Black Bird Blue selected for Pulp Paper Pages Juried Exhibition 2012 “The many forms of communicating ideas continually fascinate me. That is why, alongside glass, drawing and printmaking, I also like to make books. Black Bird Blue is a one of a kind, handmade book fashioned on a feather from my collection. This singular feather got me thinking about its owner and how it is possible to function even if a piece of oneself is missing. The feather was carefully drawn over several weeks using graphite pencil on paper with the intention to reveal the intricacy of its quill, vanes and barbs. I rearranged it to become part of a winged collective, let it dance to its own rhythm and repeated it as if to retain every detail of its essence. In the end, the feather is inexorably tied to its owner, a complex part of an even more complex whole. The feather, (housed on the cover), now has its own history, its album of existence, and its record of being here.”www.pulp-paper-pages.com
